Children’s Ministries
Puppet Ministry
Where would our children be without Elmer and the gang to lead them in both the silly and the sacred? The puppets are one of those long-standing ministries within our church….in fact, some of our adults remember watching the puppets when they were kids! With a love of puns and the energy of foam products half their age, the puppets love to minister to our children and would love to welcome your kids too. Our puppets visit the kids at the beginning of Sunday School each week.
Sunday School @ 11:00- 11:50each week
Sunday School classes are offered for all ages on Sunday mornings, September – May, after our morning worship service. Adults are invited to join one of the many small groups and special classes that meet during the Sunday school hour. The children are using a curriculum called FaithWeaver, published by Group Publishing. This material has a number of great features including: 1) all ages study the same Bible story each Sunday, 2) a family ministry built into the curriculum, and 3) it comes with flexible content and lots of choices.
WOW! (Worship on Wednesdays!)
We are using video curriculum from Empowering Kids which includes a 10-15 minute teaching video. For the 8 weeks in the fall, we plan to use Rescue 911 that teaches kids to put their trust in God using Psalm 9:9-11 as our theme. Starting in January, we plan to use Rock Solid that will help children understand the importance of their relationship with Jesus. All Kids in the 1st – 6th grades are invited to join in the fun on Wednesdays after school, starting at 4:00 p.m. and ending with our family dinner.
CADETS & GEMS
Our Cadet group helps boys in grades 3-8 to grow spiritually in all areas of life (devotional, mental, physical, and social) by providing a uniquely designed structure, program, and materials. Cadets meet every Monday night starting at 7:00 p.m. from September through April for Bible study and merit badge work, along with special events like a Pinewood Derby, Camporee, Snow Derby, and other exciting events. For more info, go to: www.calvinistcadets.org.
Our GEMS group (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) provides a similar experience for girls in grades 3-8 every other Monday evening from 6:30-8:00. The girls share in Bible study, badge work, crafts, service projects and special outings. For more information, go to: www.gemsgc.org.
